Give the gift of French culture this holiday season. At Aux Petits Soins™, we offer French language classes for students of all ages – and serve as the hub for French culture appreciation in mid-Michigan.

We’re a language immersion program for babies, kids and adults that really works. We use an innovative language education system called Listen. Absorb. Speak.™, drawing on the latest theories of early childhood development and cutting-edge cognitive research on the brain’s ability to assimilate new language at any age.

Our everyday prices are already incredibly low, so we have very little flexibility to offer discounts at other times of the year. But this Small Business Saturday, we’re getting in on the fun and offering these specially discounted classes starting Monday, November 19 – including waiving our initial enrollment fees – to reach out to new students and fill our ever-expanding class schedule.

Children’s classes ($1 off per class per 12-week session):
Three levels of Explorers: 1 (ages 6-18 months), 2 (ages 18 months-3 years) and 3 (ages 3-5) – was $168, you pay $156*
Three levels of Travel Bugs: (ages 5-7), 2 (ages 7-9) and 3 (ages 9-12) – was $210, you pay $198*
*$15 enrollment fee, covering cost of class materials, is waived as part of this special

Adult classes ($20 off per 12-week session):
Two levels of Ensemble: 12 weeks of French instruction for $280* (regular price: $300)
*$25 enrollment fee, covering cost of class materials, is waived as part of this special

We’ve already enabled a new generation of babies here in Lansing to embark on paths to being fully bilingual. We’ve also helped a small community of adults realize their lifelong dreams of learning French. Our two-prong approach allows us to tweak the old saying: The best time to learn a new language is when you’re a child; the second-best time is right now.

Offer only good for Winter Session: Jan. 7-March 31, 2019. Offer not to be combined with any other discount.

APS Winter schedule survey

Due to overwhelming demand, Aux Petits Soins will be adding new classes next session to accommodate new students. And because there are no more evening slots available for me to teach, I will be adding these new classes during morning/mid-day hours.

However, I want to pick times that work best for you, the student, so I created this survey to help gauge when would be the best time for everyone. I know you’re busy, so I kept it short, but there’s room for other suggestions if you’d like to let me know of anything else I could do to improve your French learning experience.

Merci!

How did you hear about Aux Petits Soins?

Enrollment is now open for the Adult program, Ensemble™

The next 6-week session for the Aux Petits Soins Language Immersion Classes for Adults starts on Monday, Oct. 22. A full description of the program is available here. There are only two spots left:

    • Ensemble A (beginner) Mondays at 7:30 p.m. (one spot)
    • Ensemble B (intermediate) Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. (one spot)

    So who wants in?

At Aux Petits Soins, we use a specially developed teaching system – Listen. Absorb. Speak.™  – to help adults learn French the same way they learned their native language when they were children. With Listen. Absorb. Speak.™, a native French speaker leads conversations entirely in French in small classes (five students or fewer) focusing on the distinctive tonalities and phonemes of the language to help you develop an ear for it. This will allow you to quickly begin thinking in French, with word-building and sentence construction following soon afterward.

It’s a lot of fun and a great way to connect with the Francophiles and francophones in metro Lansing!

Cost is $150, with an annual fee of $25 per person which covers the cost of all teaching materials. It also counts as a one-year membership to Aux Petits Soins™, which gives you a full year of access to all APS groups (APS Book Club and APS Group Conversation), whether or not you’re still enrolled in an APS program.

Enrollment is now open for the Adult programs

The next 6-week session for the Aux Petits Soins Language Immersion Classes for Adults starts on Monday, July 9. A full description of the program is available here. To start the enrollment process, please fill out an enrollment form and pay online.

New students who sign up online should make at least a partial payment in order to save their spot. Returning students don’t need to take that step, but both new and returning students need to be paid in full by the first class.

Please remember that there is an annual fee of $25 per person which covers the cost of all teaching materials. It also counts as a one-year membership to Aux Petits Soins, which gives you a full year of access to all APS groups (APS Book Club and APS Group Conversation), whether or not you’re still enrolled in an APS program.

    Adult Program Summer Session

The next 8-week session for the new Aux Petits Soins Language Immersion Classes for Adults starts next week, June 19. If you were thinking of joining one of our classes, now’s the time!

Whether you want to get a concentrated introduction to the basics before your upcoming trip to Paris, or you simply want to reacquaint yourself with the language and culture you love, this program was designed to help you achieve your specific goals. All classes are led by Gaëlle, a native French speaker. “I want to be your tour guide to all things French”.

The adult immersion program is an à la carte mix of social events and one-hour weekly group classes for three levels of students. Level A students (beginners) meet Tuesdays at lunchtime or Friday evenings; Level B students (intermediates) meet Tuesday evenings or Fridays at lunchtime; and Level C students (advanced) meet Monday evenings. You can find a full description of the three skill levels and what you can expect from classes here. A minimum of two students is required to start a class, with private classes available for B and C students. The social event aspect of the program is looser in format, open to all three levels, and are held in a variety of locations around Greater Lansing. First and foremost, this was designed to be fun.

If you don’t know what level is best for you, I will schedule a brief meet-up/assessment for you. This assessment is strongly recommended before enrollment. If you’ve already been assessed, you can enroll now online.

    New adult program

This month, Aux Petits Soins launches its Adult Program, a system of French language immersion classes and activities geared for people age 17 and up. The Adult Program was designed to help new and returning French speakers, and will consist of two main aspects: Classroom Time and Social Events. The classes will be broken into individual and group lessons, and split into three skill levels, as developed by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The events will be a combination of planned activities created by APS — such as weekly meet-ups, cooking classes and film viewings — and those developed by other members of the mid-Michigan French community.

My goal, at least in the beginning of the Adult Program, is to meet with all potential students in order to put them into groups where they will be able to learn most effectively. I have already started meetings, which consist of a set of questions I came up with followed by a 15-minute one-on-one conversation. All said and done, it takes about an hour. Please contact me soon to schedule your meeting.

Next Saturday, Feb. 18, there will be a French-themed dinner party at the home of some APS Children’s Program parents. The goal will is to incorporate French conversation into the evening as much as possible, allowing a good “real world” practice session and serving as a golden opportunity for local Francophiles to connect with one another. Space is limited, so please let me know ASAP if you’re interested in attending.
